What sweeteners are used in Shasta Zero Sugar sodas?

We use a blend of Sucralose and Acesulfame-K potassium no-calorie sweeteners to sweeten Shasta Zero Sugar. (You may know these ingredients by their trade names: Splenda® and Sunnett®).

How are Shasta Zero Sugar sodas different from Shasta diet sodas?

Shasta Zero Sugar is the new name for Diet Shasta. Shasta Zero Sugar flavors have the same formulas as Diet Shasta with a new name and can design. All Shasta Zero Sugar flavors are zero calories and contain zero sugar.

Are Shasta sodas Kosher and Halal?

They are Kosher certified. On our labeling you will see the “OU” kosher mark near the distributor statement. Our certifying organization is Orthodox Union. Shasta products are not Halal certified.

Is the salt declared in Shasta Ginger Ale iodized?

Yes, it is iodized. The amount of salt in our beverage is a miniscule amount, which is used as a manufacturing aid during our filtration process.

Does diet Shasta contain Aspartame?

There is no aspartame in Diet Shasta. We use a blend of sucralose and acesulfame potassium sweeteners. (You may know these ingredients by their tradenames: Splenda® and Sunett®.)

What kind of Sucralose do you use in Shasta diet sodas, and specifically, does it contain Dextrose or Maltodextrin?

We use sucralose powder, which does not contain dextrose or maltodextrin.

Is the Sucralose used in Shasta diet beverages free of corn products?

Yes, to the best of our knowledge. It is sugar based and not corn based.

Is Shasta Ginger Ale made with natural ginger? Why don’t I see it declared in the nutrition information?

The natural flavoring is made from ginger oils. Without giving away our recipe secrets, I can tell you that ginger oil is not soluable in soft drink processing so we make an extract that contains ginger oil and then the flavoring is mixed with other ingredients to make our delicious Shasta Ginger Ale beverage. FDA labeling law says we can call the flavoring a Natural Flavor.

How much quinine is in Shasta Tonic Water?

Shasta Reduced Calorie Tonic: 18 mg/8 oz; 27 mg/12 oz

Shasta Regular Tonic: 16 mg/8 oz; 27 mg/12 oz

Do Shasta sodas contain allergens such as nuts or oils from nuts?

There are no identified food allergens contained in Shasta beverages (crustacean shellfish, fish, eggs, milk, peanuts, soy, tree nuts or nut oils, and wheat) nor are food allergens present during beverage processing.

Is there fluoride in your product?

There is no added fluoride. There may be a trace amount that comes from the local municipal water source where the beverage is produced. Our facilities comply with all Federal and State water regulations to ensure we do not exceed the maximum allowable levels of fluoride. Our source water suppliers are regulated by Federal, State, and Municipal agencies to ensure compliance with safe water drinking regulations.

Regarding your sodium declaration, on your 12 oz can label declaration, why does the nutrition box declare 35 mg per 8 oz serving and say 45 mg in the nutrition box?

FDA labeling requires food manufacturers to list nutrition information for an 8 oz serving size – which is the standardized serving unit for foods and beverages. The 12 oz can is also considered a single unit serving (an FDA labeling measure of unit). Therefore, we list the actual sodium content for the entire single unit (the 12 oz can).

What is the natural flavor in Shasta Twist lemon lime?

The natural flavor is an extraction of natural lemon and lime oils.

What is the natural flavor in Shasta Orange soda?

The natural flavor is orange extract flavoring and other fruity flavorings.

Is there grapefruit juice in Shasta Diet Grapefruit?
